The Genealogy Library is located just inside the main museum entrance in the Adair Annex.

Hours are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, from April through the third week in December.

When the museum is closed to visitors in January, February, and March, the Genealogy Library is open by appointment. Call the Museum office at 660-885-8414 for an appointment.

The fee to use the Genealogy Library is $10. Photocopies of public documents (wills, probate, etc.) are $1 a page. Other photocopies are 25 cents per page. A Silver, Gold, or Sustaining membership in the Henry County Historical Society includes free use of the Genealogy Library.

Genealogy Library resources include indexed census records from 1840, indexed death records, probate records and wills, and card files of obituaries. There are also early birth records, marriage records, and records from churches, cemeteries, and schools, including rural schools. Other material includes city directories and phone books. One wall of shelves is devoted to specific Henry County families on whom newspaper clippings and additional information have been compiled. Training is available for people interested in becoming a Genealogy Library research assistant.
