Learning in a 19th Century One-Room Schoolhouse

One-room schoolhouse.

Learning the One-Room Schoolhouse Way

Built circa 1887, the Highland one-room schoolhouse was located near Calhoun, Missouri, and was relocated to the Henry County Museum in Clinton.

Step inside, and you can almost hear the chatter of excitement as children recite their ABCs and solve arithmetic problems in front of their classmates. Everything you would expect to find in a 19th century school is here: chalk and chalkboards, school desks and a teacher’s desk, state maps, and lesson books.

Be a kid again, if only briefly, by touring this rare, carefully preserved one-room schoolhouse. Smiles are guaranteed.
